Kotawân didn’t come from one office or one organization. It came from trappers, community members, youth, elders, scientists and a lot of people willing to spend long days at a necropsy table. The portal will only be as good as the people who take part in it, so we’re asking you to get involved.
There’s no single way to do that. Some examples:
If you trap or harvest muskrats, you can contribute animals and samples to the program and see what the results say about your area.
If you run a youth program or a culture camp, we’d like to talk about bringing necropsy training to your group.
If you’re an elder or knowledge keeper, your stories and knowledge about the land belong on this platform alongside the lab results, and we’d be honoured to help share them in a way you’re comfortable with.
If you’re a researcher, educator or organization working on environmental monitoring, wildlife health or land-based learning, there may be room to collaborate.
If you just have ideas, send them. Tell us what you’d want to learn, what you’d want to see on the site, or what isn’t working.
You don’t need a polished proposal. A short note is plenty. Tell us who you are, where you’re from, and what you’re interested in, and someone from the team will get back to you.
The fire’s lit. Come sit with us.
